Upcoming Quilt Auction
April 15, 2009

Please join us for Metigoshe Ministries’ Quilt Auction, Saturday, June 27 at 10:00 am. Auction proceeds help to support the dedicated Christian young-adults who serve as summer camp staff.

Where Do These Quilts Come From?

God has given all of us gifts to serve God’s people. Some of us listen, some preach, some share, some work—Carmen Dolbeare of Willow City quilts. Carmen is one of many who make a quilt each year for the Metigoshe Ministries’ Quilt Auction. Like so many of our other quilters, Carmen has taken her artistic gift for quilting and generously and joyfully shared that gift.

Carmen compared her service through quilting to a classic Sunday school song.

“It’s kind of like, ‘This Little Light of Mine.’ I don’t want to just sit at home and make quilts for me. God gives us gifts to use, not to hoard to ourselves.”

Beyond the Metigoshe Ministries’ Quilt Auction, Carmen gives her time and talent to Quilts for Valor, a program that provides quilts to service men and women. She also makes quilts for fundraising raffles, like the Rugby Hospice. One year, Carmen’s Lenten discipline was to sew a quilt top a day for Lutheran World Relief—that’s 40 quilts!

Carmen’s quilt and many other exceptional creations will be on display in advance of the auction.
